SZA Sheds Light On Her Upcoming Album

We’re quickly approaching the fourth year in the wait for SZA‘s second album and the highly-anticipated follow-up to Ctrl. In these almost four years, the TDE singer has promised the album was “on the way” several times, but nothing to the magnitude of a project arrived. With that being said, it looks like 2021 could be the year it does.

In a new profile with Cosmopolitan, SZA confirmed the existence of her sophomore effort is on the way and told readers a little bit about it. “This album is going to be the sh*t that made me feel something in my…here and in here,” she said as she pointed to her heart and gut. “That’s what’s going to go on the album. I’m making all different types of sh*t every day from different places in my spirit.”

She also spoke on that 2018 Grammy snub where Alessia Cara was picked over her for Best New Artist. “I’m just a girl from the ’burbs. I never had dreams of being nominated for a Grammy,” she said. “Once you’ve been nominated and lost, you’re very much free because you’re not concerned. I passed that threshold years ago—it’s an old energy to me. Why would I be mad?”

Sounds like it’s all good in SZA’s world, especially after her “Hit Different” and “Good Days” singles. Let’s hope we get a look into that world in the form of new music soon.
