Introducing... #RedBullNextNZ

The search has begun for New Zealand's best emerging lyricist with the launch of the #RedBullNextNZ competition.   
The competition is open for anyone to enter. Entrants must download a beat produced by Smokeygotbeatz and record themselves rapping over the top. They then have to upload the video to Instagram where the top five entries will be picked by Smokey and Church (Church & AP).  

Having produced for the likes of Jay Rock from Top Dawg Entertainment and as the in-house producer for SWIDT, Smokeygotbeatz has already solidified his place amongst New Zealand hip-hop royalty.

 
The ultimate winner will be chosen by the public and they will win the opportunity to record a full version of the track with Smokeygotbeatz and Church at the Red Bull Studios in Auckland.

Smokeygotbeatz has teamed up with Red Bull, releasing an unheard beat to the public as a part of the competition.
 
"I just made something fresh to be honest. I was gonna go with some boom-baps, you know, hard drums and a sample in there, but I ended up coming up with something else... I wanted some like, heavy, ignorant, 808-shit" Smokey says, as he begins chuckling.
