Nipsey Hussle Memorial To Be Shut Down
Nipsey Hussle’s memorial outside his Marathon Clothing store will be removed after people tried to monetize it.
Fans who gathered to pay their respects at the store on Crenshaw and Slauson have been hounded by bootleggers and grifters trying to make money off the late rapper’s death, according to TMZ. The memorial has become chaotic with hustlers roaming the street, turning the tribute site into a “circus.”
After Nipsey was gunned down outside the Marathon store on March 31, the parking lot has turned into a memorial, with fans leaving flowers, balloons, pictures, notes, and candles.
People have been selling bootleg T-shirts with Nipsey’s image, while others are asking for money for a tour of the neighborhood, and some are even charging fans just to walk through the area where Nipsey was shot.
Sources close to Nipsey say they decided to shut down the memorial because it’s become disrespectful and Nipsey is not being properly honored.
Nipsey’s family plans to honour him in other ways including his foundation, which aims to improve his community by rebuilding playgrounds, helping improve public parks in Crenshaw, and developing STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) programs for students.
