Gunna Surrenders To Police On Racketeering Charges
Gunna is behind bars on a racketeering charge.
The Atlanta rapper, whose real name is Sergio Kitchens, was booked into Fulton County Jail today in connection with the 56-count indictment against 28 alleged Young Slime Life gang members, which includes charges ranging from drug and gun possession to murder. Gunna is charged with a single count of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
According to jail records, obtained by TMZ, Gunna surrendered and turned himself in to the authorities, just two days after Young Thug was taken away in handcuffs by cops who raided his property.
Prosecutors allege that YSL is a criminal street gang co-founded by Thug (Jeffrey Williams) with ties to the national Bloods gang.
Both rappers are accused of possession and intent to sell a variety of narcotics, receiving stolen property, and for general street gang activity. Additionally, they were charged with being part of a larger criminal enterprise comprised of YSL associates who were allegedly involved in a series of crimes, including the attempted murder of YFN Lucci.
Prosecutors are using Thug’s song lyrics and social media posts to portray him as a violent gang figure. Lyrics from nine different songs were listed in the indictment, including Thug and Gunna’s hit collaboration “Ski.”
“As the district attorney of Fulton County, my No. 1 focus is targeting gangs,” Fani Willis said at a news conference. “And there’s a reason for that. They are committing, conservatively, 75 to 80% of all of the violent crime that we are seeing within our community.”
Gunna is scheduled to make his first court appearance today.
