Beyoncé is an Oscar nominee.
The icon earned her first Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song for “Be Alive” from King Richard, a biopic about the father of Venus and Serena Williams. The power ballad, which plays during the end credits of the film, was written for the movie with songwriter Dixson.
Bey’s fellow nominees in the category include “Dos Oruguitas” (Lin-Manuel Miranda), “Down to Joy” (Van Morrison), “No Time to Die” (Billie Eilish & Finneas O’Connell), and “Somehow You Do” (Diane Warren).
