Swizz Beatz, 50 Cent Blast Irv Gotti For DMX Drug Overdose Comments
While the hip-hop community continues to mourn the rap legend, 50 Cent and Swizz Beatz are calling out Irv Gotti for his insensitive remarks. In the days after DMX’s death on April 9, the Murder Inc. founder did an interview where he claimed that X died from an overdose of crack mixed with Fentanyl.
“They said it was a bad dose of crack and they said some drug Fentanyl was mixed in with the crack and that’s what made him overdose,” Gotti told Chicago’s 107.5 WGCI, while also claiming that X was diagnosed with COVID-19.
“When he got to the hospital, he got diagnosed with COVID and he couldn’t breathe. You know that COVID messes with your respiratory system, so that’s why he had to get hooked up to the ventilator. But they said before he did, he was brain died.'”
On Friday, 50 Cent reposted a clip from Irv’s interview and put his longtime rival on blast. “This guy is a idiot, did he just say DMX died from smoking crack and fentanyl! why would he say that?” asked 50.
Swizz Beatz seemed to agree with 50 and voiced his disapproval in the comments, “Bozo moves can’t lie,” he wrote alongside the see-no-evil and clown emojis.
During DMX’s memorial service at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center last weekend, Swizz also made reference to so-called “friends” who didn’t show their concern until the Ruff Ryders icon was dead.
“I just wish all these people showed up for him when he was here,” said the Verzuz founder. “The things I’m witnessing from my brother’s passing, it’s a big educational thing for me to learn. A lot of people ain’t your friend, a lot of people ain’t your family.”
DMX had been on life support after suffering what his family called “a catastrophic cardiac arrest” a week prior to his death. He was 50.
