Drake Plans To Discuss Squashing Beef With DMX

Drake and DMX buried their beef before his death.

Drake reportedly plans to revisit his rivalry with the late rap icon on an upcoming episode of REVOLT’s “Drink Champs” podcast. Host Noreaga met up with Drake last night and revealed that he was instrumental in squashing the near-decade-old beef with some help from Drake’s producer Noah “40” Shebib.

Back in 2012, DMX shared his distaste for Drake. “I don’t like anything about Drake. I don’t like his fucking voice. I don’t like the shit he talks about,” he told “The Breakfast Club.” “I don’t like his face. I don’t like the way he walks, like nothing. I don’t like his haircut.”

He also ridiculed Drake in an interview with MTV’s “RapFix Live.” “He has talent, but it’s kinda redundant, it’s kinda the same all the time to me personally. It’s an annoying sound,” said DMX, who compared Drake’s sound to a washing machine.

Additionally, DMX disapproved of Drake’s involvement in a posthumous Aaliyah album, which was eventually scrapped. “How do you disregard what this woman did? What this beautiful angel did and say, ‘Oh OK, I’m gonna take it for myself because I’m hot right now and I’m feelin’ myself,'” DMX said at the time. “How do you just go there with it? Your balls ain’t that big, son.”

However, the two later resolved their issues after Drake sampled DMX’s “How’s It Goin’ Down” on his 2016 Views track “U With Me?”

“I did always say that he was a talented lyricist, but I was not a fan,” X said during a 2016 interview with “The Breakfast Club.” “[It was] another humbling experience. Like, Yo, you didn’t like this dude for all the wrong reasons… But for him to take the effort–first, to want to use a song of mine–and then to be man enough to reach out and make that call. I was like, homie, hat’s off, man. That was a real move. It took a man to make a move like that. I salute him for that.”
