Bryson Tiller has been in the studio every day working on new music including his long-awaited album Serenity. During a recent Twitch livestream, Tiller announced that the project will be a triple album featuring rap, R&B, and pop.

“Y’all gon’ eat this shit, man, please believe it,” he told fans. “So much shit going on. I’ve been in the studio every fu**ing day.”

He planned to release a second album at the end of 2020, but he wasn’t able to get the samples cleared in time. “Some shit don’t even be my fault. I was in the studio grinding, gettin’ that bitch done, but couldn’t get certain samples cleared…It’s gonna be ready for this year for sure.”

Tiller started working on Serenity prior to 2017’s True to Self. “I just wasn’t in the right head space to make it, then after True to Self I was depressed and shit, had some shit going on in my life,” he revealed.

He took a break from recording and later returned when he was in the right mental state. “I started up Serenity again because I was in a better place in my life. I was feeling better about shit and then I realized, I don’t even got a peace of mind right now, I don’t even feel like I’m at peace to even make this album, so I put it on pause.”

He has been sitting on so much material that he decided to make Serenity a triple album. “Over the years, I realized how much fu**in’ music I had for Serenity, all this different shit, so Serenity is not one album, it’s three albums. It’s three volumes of the albums—one is a rap album, one is an R&B album, and then one is a pop album.”

The oft-delayed project is a celebration of his musical freedom. “Serenity is about me not giving a f**k at all,” Pen Griffey explained. “I still don’t give a f**k, to be honest right now. But Serenity is more so me having a peace of mind, in my element, making music and just being free creatively. For a long time, I always cared so much about how people felt about what I was doing…and it be in my head like a motherfu**er. But now I don’t even hear none of that shit no more.”
