OD Shares New Single 'CHIPS'
OD continues his collaborative hot streak with Kiwi producer Rory Noble, delivering a fiery new single in ‘CHIPS’.
The 23-year-old North Shore rapper has been making waves lately, with previous releases like ‘YOU’, ‘MOVE’, ‘FREAK’ and ‘RODMAN’ sewing the seeds of a strong local fanbase, and earning him tens of thousands of streams on Spotify.
With collaborations and cuts alongside Kanye West, DJ Mustard and Just Blaze under his belt, Rory Noble is taking the local and global music industry by storm – with his production on ‘CHIPS’, it’s easy to see why.
‘CHIPS’ opens with an eerie, meditative flute loop, which soon gives way to an apocalyptic bassline, giving OD the perfect canvas to work his magic on. Atop the hypnotic beat, OD flaunts his lyrical dexterity and rattles off machete-like flows; he’s crisp, effortlessly in the pocket, and more polished than almost all his local counterparts. OD makes it clear – his chips are laid on the table. Although entering the music game is always a gamble, especially for a Kiwi artist, the up-and-comer is sure of his success; and he has every right to be. At the same time, he’s dealing with the emotional weight of the chip on his shoulder. From being “left on seen” and the “warzone” he battles in his head, he’s well acquainted with the demons that come along as part of the journey. “I got destiny to meet, and I got demons that I greet... I got devils that I like, and some angels I don’t speak to.”
‘CHIPS’ is sure to continue OD’s upwards trajectory in the NZ music scene, and with his international quality sound, it’s only a matter of time until his infectious tracks spreads across the world. Stream ‘CHIPS’ here:
