EP Review: RMR - Drug Dealing is a Lost Art
RMR has released his new EP "Drug Dealing is a Lost Art" which contains some big named features for this breakout new artist such as Future, Westside Gunn and Lil Baby.
RMR first hit our screens and ears earlier this year with his song "Rascal" which captured our attention with his oversized country like vocals in what is usually a "rap scene" type video. RMR knows how to capture attention which is one of the most important things in an incredibly saturated game and with his opening two songs on this project "Welfare" and "Dealer" he has captured our attention once again. "Welfare" sees RMR glide over this bouncy trap beat with the help of Westside Gunn opening the project. While "Dealer" RMR shows us his vocal range and diversity over this emotional beat where he isn't scared to show us his struggles.
RMR has shown us one thing in his short career so far and that is his creativity and music can't be restrained to a type of genre or locked away in a box. " Im not over you" is an example of RMR showing us his vocal range and really showing us his emotional side as he did on his breakout single "Rascal" in February that is also featured on this project.
Over the years you always look back at certain artists as artists that "paved the way" for the type of style, genre or approach that you take to your music, for example, Lil Peep really brought across the emo alternative rap to the mainstream and has broken that barrier for a lot of artists today. RMR could possibly be one of these artists that introduces something new to a very over-saturated market. RMR has everything from the look, to the alternative rap flows, and impressive vocal range where he can somehow tie R&B and Country type vocals into one. RMR could possibly be one of the next breakout stars and you heard it here first.
