Less than one month after his release from prison, the rapper has announced his return to music. In the first post-prison post on his Instagram page, Tekashi teased a May 8 release date. “You ready?” he wrote along with the tongue emoji. “May 8th.”

hile it’s unclear what he plans to drop that day, he has been working on new music since being released to home confinement. He has reportedly set up a studio at home and is recording an English and Spanish album as part of his multi-million-dollar deal with 10K Projects.

6ix9ine was released from a Queens Detention Facility on April 2 to avoid contracting the coronavirus. He will serve the remainder of his 24-month sentence under supervised release. Once he is off house arrest in late July, he will still need to get permission from his probation officer to travel for work.
