Rowdy Rebel Shares Message From Bobby Shmurda After Prison Release
Rowdy Rebel was released from prison yesterday after serving six years for charges related to his and Bobby Shmurda’s 2014 arrest. Fans were excited for the New York native’s return home, but were also thinking of Shmurda, who was denied parole earlier this year.
Rebel celebrated his freedom by hitting up Eric Da Jeweler and purchasing some sparkly new pieces. Hopping on Instagram, the rapper showed off his new bling and also updated fans with a message from Shmurda himself.
“I love all y’all, I love all my fans, I love all the support,” Shmurda said on a phone call with Rebel. “We’ll be right there. Don’t even trip. Welcome home my big bro. You already know, you deserve it. We ’bout to turn up like no fucking tomorrow, ni**a.”
Shmurda, Rebel and 13 other GS9 affiliates were arrested by New York police officers back in 2014. Shmurda was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, reckless endangerment, drug and gun possession and more. The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to all charges and ended up choosing a longer prison sentence in solidarity with Rebel.
“They offered me five [years] and offered Rowdy 12. They said the only way they’ll give him seven is if I took seven too. So, you know, I had to take one for the dawgs,” Shmurda told Complex in 2016.
Shmurda appeared in court for his parole hearing this past September, but was denied release. The judge said the Brooklyn rapper will most likely stay behind bars until the end of his sentence next December. Rebel also appeared in court for his own parole hearing back in August.
