Jeremih’s Family Issues Update On His COVID-19 Battle
Jeremih’s family is speaking out for the first time since he was hospitalized for COVID-19.
The 33-year-old singer is currently on a breathing ventilator in the intensive care unit at a Chicago hospital due to complications from the coronavirus. In a statement to CNN, his family said the virus has “viciously attacked his body” and that his experience is “rare for a young man his age without underlying conditions.”
They also urged others to take it seriously. “His family would like to remind the world that COVID-19 is real and not to be taken lightly,” read the statement. “Also, it’s important for people infected to quarantine and let their families and friends know ASAP. There’s no shame in contracting COVID-19, and people that have it need to be responsible and considerate of others.”
Jeremih’s family thanked “everyone who is praying,” while asking for continued prayers. “The family believes daily prayers to God. A great team of doctors and nurses is helping him pull through,” they said.
His condition remains severe, but he is showing signs of improvement. “He’s not out of the woods yet, but progress is being made. The family and friends are praying that he starts breathing on his own soon, and makes a full recovery.”
