Album Review: Trippie Redd - Pegasus
Ohio native Trippie Redd has released his new full length project “Pegasus” with a huge 26 tracks spanning the album.
Trippie kicks off the album flexing his unique vocal range like only he does with “Let it Out” with Trrippie singing over this moody beat. The next few tracks kind of fall into place with each other but not really offering that much to the listener but you have to expect tracks to be underwhelming when a project is released with 26 tracks overall. Love Scars 4 is a decent standout track with Trippie showing us his vulnerability as he does with a catchy track.
It is hard to say this is a great album, there are a lot of tracks that just don’t give you anything as a listener as with Trippies topics of songs being quite similar along with the album duration a lot of this album can feel like it tends to drag. Although there are definitely a few good takeaway tracks, TR666 with Swae Lee will sound recognisable to those who are real Trippie fans as this song was actually released in 2017 but this is a standout track, “No Honorable Mention” features Quavo and Lil Mosey and is an odd combination of artists but delivers one of my personal favourite Lil Mosey features to date.
“Pegasus” didn’t really fully hit home but it did deliver some good Trippie tracks that have been saved to my playlist, I feel like as a fan of Trippie Redd we do see this pattern where his albums that aren’t part of his “Love Scars” series don’t quite raise the bar like we know he can as an artist. We do know one thing and that is that Trippie is constantly working and evolving as an artist and it won’t be long till we see another project.
