Kendrick Lamar's 'good kid, m.A.A.d city' Breaks Eminem's Billboard Record
Kendrick Lamar has broken Eminem’s record for longest-charting Hip Hop studio album in Billboard 200 history. According to a tweet from Chart Data, Kendrick’s good kid, m.A.A.d city has surpassed The Eminem Show.
The Eminem Show currently sits at 357 weeks while good kid, m.A.A.d city is at 358 weeks.
good kid, m.A.A.d city served as K. Dot’s sophomore album and follow-up to 2011’s Section .80. The project dropped on October 22, 2012 and debuted at No. 2, selling roughly 242,000 copies in its first week.
It marked the highest first-week sales of any Hip Hop album from a male artist and the best-selling debut from a male artist.
The Eminem Show was released in 2002 and debuted at No. 1 in not only the U.S. but also in 18 other countries. The project was certified diamond by the RIAA in 2011, his second album to receive the rare distinction.
