A$AP Rocky Arrives Back In The USA
A$AP Rocky returned to the United States just after midnight on Saturday (Aug. 3) after being released from Swedish custody following a month in jail. According to TMZ, the rapper was “downright gleeful” after his private jet touched down at LAX after a long flight from Sweden.
The judges in his criminal case allowed him to leave the country pending a verdict. All signs point to a not guilty verdict. Prosecutors in the assault case asked the judges to keep Rocky behind bars because he remained a flight risk, but the judges disagreed.
Sources tell TMZ that he plans to never return to Sweden. Although he never made race an issue in his assault case, privately everyone in his camp thinks it was a factor. His legal team decided it would be best for him not to take the stand on the racial issue, for fear of inflaming the judges.
Prosecutors maintained that Rocky hit the alleged victim over the head with a green bottle, but no witnesses supported the theory and there was no video evidence. Rocky was seen holding a bottle, but he says he did it in self-defense and put it down on the ground.
Rocky does not have to appear in court for the verdict, which will be announced on Aug. 14. It will be a written decision.
