Sheck Wes Won't Be Charged For Allegedly Abusing Justine Skye
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office won’t be pursuing an assault case against Sheck Wes, according to TMZ.
The “Mo Bamba” creator was accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend Justine Skye at the Montrose Hotel in West Hollywood last summer. However, the D.A. determined there was a lack of evidence to move forward with the case.
A rep for Skye confirmed TMZ’s report in a statement to Pitchfork. The rep did note a restraining order against Wes remains intact.
“A judge in the Superior Court of California granted a restraining order against Sheck Wes that is still in effect and the correlating case is still pending,” the rep said. “However, it is unfortunate that the Los Angeles District Attorney decided to not pursue any further action at this time but that is often the case with many victims of Domestic Violence which is why incidents like this go unreported much of the time.
“At no time did anyone from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office take a statement on the incident from Justine Skye or reached out to garner a statement which is unfortunate.”
In February, Skye publicly accused Wes of abusing her in a series of tweets. She specifically mentioned him slapping her at the Montrose Hotel.
The allegations prompted Major League Soccer to remove the Interscope Records artist from a promotional campaign for its 2019 season.
Wes denied all of Skye’s accusations. He also refuted her story about his alleged assault at the hotel.
“This is a complete lie,” he wrote on Twitter. “I called my hotel to come get you away from me because i stayed there a lot and i was a young artist scared and afraid of a girl like you . All this back and forth is childish , people talk and resolve or go to police not provoke social media.”
