Buddy Ryan Drops New EP 'May Eleven'
Melbourne based Buddy Ryan presents a collection of soul-tinged musings in his sophomore EP 'May Eleven'. The release comes alongside news that the Connecticut born lyricist will be launching the EP at local stop The Grace Darling Hotel on November 14th.
'May Eleven' showcases Buddy's ability to consistently craft smooth grooves bolstered by his deft lyricism and sheer honesty. His penchant for rap, soul and RNB shines through with the project ruminating on a range of topics including life experiences, social commentary, karma, reflections and cautionary tales.
New single 'Figured I' is an infectious beast and sits in the more upbeat echelons of his recent releases, it also features fellow Melbournite Mike Wang who delivered on his verse within a few hours.
On the title, Buddy states “May eleven is a date but there’s so much involved with those numbers. It’s more of a spirit. A mood from start to finish.” He continues about the release “Making a body of work for me has always been about the overall feel. It should play back like a movie. The best pieces of art take you outside of yourself.”
Last week he revealed new single 'Cherry Oak ft. Jo Jodun' which employs a more laid-back musical style and combines with previously released singles 'Bad Feelin' and 'Sixweeks ft. Mark Echols' which caught the attention of Cool Accidents, Backyard Opera, Wickedd Childd and Hit Up Ange alongside an add to SYN Radio.
2017 saw the release of Buddy's underrated debut EP 'Grey' which centred around the downtempo single of the same name. Using thought-provoking lyrics as his vehicle, Buddy talks through pain and his personal journey whilst hoping for peace.
