Lizzo & Lil Nas X Lead 2020 Grammy Nominations

It’s that time of the year when the much-waited GRAMMY nominations are announced and social media erupts due to the choices — some deserving ones get nominated while some are shockingly left out.

The nominees for the 62nd GRAMMY Awards nominees were announced by 15-time GRAMMY-winning artist Alicia Keys along with Recording Academy President/CEO Deborah Dugan and Chair of the Board of Trustees Harvey Mason Jr. in a nominations press conference.

Lizzo is the most nominated artist with eight, including Album of the Year (Cuz I Love You (Deluxe)), Record of the Year (‘Truth Hurts’), Song of the Year (‘Truth Hurts’), and Best New Artist. Additionally, she received nods for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best R&B Performance for ‘Exactly How I Feel' featuring Gucci Mane and Best Traditional R&B Performance for ‘Jerome.’

Lil Nas X follows with six nominations each. Nas is this year’s leading male nominee, earning nods for Record of the Year (‘Old Town Road’), Best New Artist, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (‘Panini’), Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (‘Old Town Road’), Best Music Video/Film (‘Old Town Road’), and Album of the Year for his debut EP 7.

Ariana Grande earned five Grammy noms, including Album of the Year for Thank U, Next and Record of the Year for ‘7 Rings.’ Two-time winner H.E.R. landed five noms, including Album of the Year for I Used to Know Her and Song and Record of the Year for ‘Hard Place.’

In the Best Rap Album category, the nominees include Dreamville’s Revenge of the Dreamers III, Meek Mill’s Championships, 21 Savage’s i am > i was, Tyler, the Creator’s IGOR, and YBN Cordae’s The Lost Boy.

The late Nipsey Hussle, who was nominated for Best Rap Album last year, received three nominations including Best Rap Performance (‘Racks in the Middle’), Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (‘Higher’), and Best Rap Song (‘Racks in the Middle’).

The GRAMMYs will go down at Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020.
