R. Kelly Is Denied Bail And Will Remain In Jail Until 2020
R. Kelly was denied bail by a Brooklyn judge on Thursday (Oct. 3).
On July 11, 2019, Kelly was arrested on federal charges alleging sex crimes and obstruction of justice.
The singer asked to be released while waiting his trial, claiming to be suffering medical conditions while in jail, according to his attorneys.
When the motion was argued in court on Thursday, however, Brooklyn federal judge Ann Donnelly didn’t buy it. According to new legal docs, obtained by TMZ, the government says Kelly is definitely a flight risk if he were released from jail.
The trial is set to begin May 18, 2020, Page Six reported, and the proceeding is expected to last three weeks.
Kelly, who was also the subject of the jaw-dropping documentary Surviving R. Kelly earlier this year, has still claimed his innocence throughout his legal troubles.
