DMX is seeking help in his long-standing battle with addiction. The veteran MC’s team announced X checked himself into rehab, which resulted in him cancelling some previously booked gigs.

“In his ongoing commitment to putting family and sobriety first, DMX has checked himself into a rehab facility,” X’s reps wrote on Instagram. “He apologises for his cancelled shows and thanks his fans for their continued support.

X was scheduled to perform Saturday at Three 6 Mafia’s reunion concert in Memphis and during Day 2 of Rolling Loud in New York on Sunday. Both appearances have been cancelled.

DMX has had a long-documented battle with addiction. He’s been jailed numerous times for drug-related offences and spent time in rehab throughout the years, including most recently in 2017. “House arrest wasn’t working for me, so I made the decision to do something positive and better for myself,” X told TMZ that year.

In January, Xr was released from a West Virginia prison after completing a one-year sentence for tax evasion.

DMX’s return to rehab is a setback for the hip-hop icon, who was in the midst of reviving his career. He recently signed a new deal with Def Jam and was working on a new album as well as a possible biopic.
